Is it Safe to Be Physically Active during Pregnancy?
YES,
But,
If you were not physically active before pregnancy, you will need to talk to your health care provider.
Why?
 
 
                  Because health care providers will help you select physical activities that
                            * meet your personalized needs
                            * reduce the risk of hurting yourself or your infant
                            * promote a healthy pregnancy.

What if I have been active before pregnancy?
         You may continue being physically active during pregnancy.
         Recommended physical activities include:
                     * Walking
                     * Yoga
                     * Pilates
                     * Swimming
                     * Using a Stationary Bike
                     * Strength Training
                     * Dancing
For How Long Should I Exercise during Pregnancy?
                    > 30 minutes time period is recommended on most days of the week

What are the benefits of physical activities during pregnancy?
  • Helps your body use insulin better
  • Relieves stress
  • Keeps your heart healthy
  • Reduces pregnancy discomforts, such as constipation, backaches, sleeping problems, or swollen veins (March of Dimes Foundation, 2013; American Diabetes Association,  2013)
